Bears Outlast Lincoln Memorial, 3-2

HICKORY, N.C. – Despite dropping the first set, the Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Team stormed back to grab a 3-2 win over Lincoln Memorial on Sunday afternoon inside Shuford Gym. Taylor Prall recorded a career-high 23 kills for the Bears who won the fifth set 15-8 to move to 2-1 in league play.

STATS OF THE MATCH:
•    Prall, who tied her career-high with 22 kills against Catawba on Sept. 10, broke that mark this afternoon and netted her third straight double-double. The junior OH had a season-high 17 digs and also added three aces to go with a .309 hitting percentage. 
•    The Bears came out sluggish to start, dropping the first set 25-19 and only hitting .182 as a team. LR would take sets two and three by scores of 25-18 and 25-17 before dropping the fourth frame 25-17. 
•    The fifth set was tied at eight before the Bears closed out the match with a 7-0 run to earn the 'W'. Lincoln Memorial hit .000 in the final frame and had six errors. 
•    Ashley Hawkins added four aces to go with her team-high 26 digs on the afternoon. Hawkins has topped 20 digs in each of her last three matches and this is her third game with multiple service aces on the year. 
•    Taylor Walton had a season-high seven kills and five digs to spark the Bears off the bench. 
•    Freshman setter Mackenzie Hulsey had her first career double-double with 25 assists and 14 digs, while sophomore Helen Hamilton finished with 24 assists and 12 digs for her second straight double-double. 

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
•    This was the first five-setter for LR this season who went 4-1 when going the distance in 2018. 
•    The win is number 299 in the Lenoir-Rhyne coaching career of Head Coach Dave Markland
•    LR has now won 11 of the last 14 matchups with the Railsplitters.
