CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Team started the 2019 season in strong fashion, completing a one-day sweep of Francis Marion and Grand Valley St at the Queens Fall Invitational on Friday.
GAME ONE:
Final: Lenoir-Rhyne 3, Francis Marion 0 (25-11, 25-18, 25-21)

STATS OF THE MATCH:
- It was all Taylor Prall in the first game of the season. The junior finished the contest with 17 kills and a career-high .654 hitting percentage. Prall, a Preseason All-Conference selection, added nine digs, two aces and a block. Prall's previous career-high in hitting percentage was .556 against Saint Anselm during her freshman season.
- Sophomore Alannah Thomas added seven kills, the second-most of her LR career. Thomas' final kill came on the game-winner and she added five digs.
- Sophomore Helen Hamilton handed out 20 assists and sophomore libero Ashley Hawkins tied Prall with nine digs. Hawkins had six of the Bears 15 aces on the afternoon which was just two shy of tying the program record for a three set match.
- As a team, LR hit .317 and held the Patriots to a .139 hitting percentage.

STATS OF THE MATCH:
- Prall continued her strong play with a double-double, finishing with 10 kills and 13 digs.
- Hawkins led the Bears with 23 digs and narrowly missed another program record on the day. The record for most digs in a three set match is 28 set by Catherine Fulton in 2005.
- Hannah Houston added 14 digs for the Bears and Helen Hamilton finished with 22 assists and a career-high eight kills.

The Bears will continue the Queens Fall Classic on Saturday with two more matches. LR is scheduled to take on North Greenville at 2:30 and Belmont Abbey at 7 to close out the two-day tournament.
