Hickory, N.C.-- Men's Tennis beat Belmont Abbey at home 6-1 on Friday afternoon.

The Bears were finally able to open up the new year and spring season at home. The first couple of matches had been postponed due to rain.

Tales Miranda led LR in singles topping Cary 6-1 and 6-1. Josh Lazenby also had a strong performance in singles beating Horne 6-2 and 6-3. Alex Hyman locked up the win for LR in singles  defeating Shiell 6-4 and 6-4.

On the doubles side, Rhodri Atkinson and Josh Lazenby guided LR to victory finishing off Horne/Shiell,  6-0. Paul Lenz and Lewis Scott secured the win for LR in doubles knocking off Rowe/Martin, 6-2.

Head Coach Jesse Tarr mentioned how much grit his team showed today on the court.

"Couldn't be prouder of the guys today," Tarr said. "From start to finish we were in control of the match against a good Belmont Abbey team. Thanks to all the Bears who came out today to support."

The Bears will be back in action on Thursday, February 20 at Limestone.
