E.J. Ranel gave the Bears a 3-2 lead in the top half of the 8th, Anderson used a three-run bottom of the 8th to come back and beat the Bears 5-3 in the first game of the weekend series.Â

STATS OF GAME:
- LR got on the board in the 5th. Mike McHugh doubled to left field to lead off the inning and the Bears then used two bunts to get him home. David Bell moved him over to third with a sacrifice bunt then Brock Johnson perfectly executed the squeeze play to get McHugh home.Â
- Bears added a run in the 7th as Connor Smith led off with a bunt single and went to third after an error by the Trojans. That was followed by a Will Jones SAC fly that gave the Bears a 2-0 lead.Â
- Trojans got two runs in the Bottom of the 7th to end John Grigg's night. Grigg went 6+ innings and allowed two runs (0 earned) while striking out a season high nine.
- Ranel gave the Bears the lead briefly in the 8th with an RBI double but the Trojans got their own big double by Trevor Weisner. Weisner's two-run double was the game-winning hit.Â
- Ben Friebel allowed four hits and three runs in his two innings to suffer his first lost of the season.
- Anderson's Ryan Smith picked up his fourth win of the season. Smith has been the SAC pitcher of the week the last two weeks. Christian Carpenter pitched a scoreless ninth to pick up his SAC-leading sixth save.Â
- Bears had three errors on the night, leading to all five unearned runs for the Trojans.Â
- Ranel and McHugh had four of the Bears five hits on the night.Â
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Tonight's was Grigg's third career start against Anderson. Grigg went 1-1 against the Trojans in 2018.Â
- After a 10 game hitting streak, Will Jones went hitless in back to back games for the first time this season.Â
- LR has won the last two weekend series in Anderson. In 2017 and 2018, the Bears took two of three from the host Trojans.
