Due West, S.C.--. Lenoir-Rhyne's Softball team used strong pitching from
Morgan Beeler and
Lauren Rakes and clutch hitting to sweep Erskine Monday afternoon.

STATS OF GAME ONE:
- Savannah Moorefield led off the first with a single and came around to score thanks to an error by the catcher to give the Bears an early 1-0 lead. Moorefield has reached base to start all three games so far for the Bears (2-2, BB).
- Erskine's Allison Neeley responded with a homerun in the bottom of the 1st to even the score at one. It was Neeley's 6th career homerun for the Flying Fleet.
- The Bears added three runs in the 6th and then five in the 7th to put away the Flying Fleet.
- Kendall Osborne had her first multiple rbi game in her career with an RBI single in the 6th and and RBI ground out in the 7th.
- Lora Beth Wood had her second multi-rbi game of the season already. Wood has 5 RBI's in her first three colligate games.
- Morgan Beeler picked up her second win on the season. Beeler pitched 6-plus innings, allowing only 2 earned runs and striking out 5. Beeler ERA is 3.00 through her first two starts of the year.
- The Bears have 34 hits through its first three games of the year so far.
STATS OF GAME TWO:
- Lauren Rakes was the story in game two, picking up her first complete game shutout of her career. Rakes only allowed one hit and struck out 8.
- With two outs in the top of the 7th, Moorefield single, stole second and then scored on a Hannah Jennings single.
- Osborne and Wood each had two hits for the Bears.
- Erskine only had a single in the third, which the runner was thrown out trying to stretch into a double.
- Freshman Taylor Hammett started her first career game behind the plate and got her first career hit.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Bears are 4-0 for the first time since starting 8-0 in 2016.
- This is the third straight year these teams have meet in a non-conference doubleheader. Prior to 2018, the only other time these teams met was a Bears victory in 2010.
- Today's games starts a stretch where the Bears play away from home for seven straight games before coming home to play for six straight.
- Kylee Leonhardt singled in her first inning of the first game then left the game. Leonhardt did not start the second game, Leonhardt had started the last 80 games for the Bears before missing game 2.
UP NEXT: Bears will head to Chattanooga, Tennessee to play in the Lee Invitational. The Bears will play 5 games in a 3 day span. Bears will open with #12 Indianapolis Friday at 11 AM.
