Bears Use 4th Quarter Comeback to Beat Lincoln Memorial 56-52

Hickory, N.C.--  Lenoir-Rhyne's Women Basketball team was down 45-40 entering the 4th quarter and then outscored Lincoln Memorial 16-7 in the final quarter to come away with a 56-52 win on Wednesday evening. Nakia Hooks scored eight of her 13 points in the fourth quarter.

Stats of the Game:
  • In the 4th quarter, as the Bears got hot (5-11) Lincoln Memorial went cold. Lincoln Memorial only shot 2-11 from the field in the 4th quarter. 
  • Karlie Bearden notched a career-high with 15 rebounds and added 13 points for her fourth double-double of the season. The senior captain added four blocks and a pair of steals. 
  • Kennedy Weigt added 10 points and knocked down a pair of three pointers.
  • Hooks went 4-for-5 from the field and sparked the Bears off the bench. Blair Barefoot added eight bench points as the Bears overcame a 3-for-16 first quarter shooting performance to move within a game of .500 in league play.
  • For the second consecutive game, the LR defense held opponents to less than 30 percent shooting from the field. The Railsplitters went 16-for-54 (29.6 percent) and 5-of-17 from long range. 
Beyond the Box Score:
  • With the win, LR has now sweep Lincoln Memorial on the season after winning 72-62 in Harrogate in December. The win also moves them into a tie for 6th place in the SAC, a game ahead of Lincoln Memorial.
  • After tonight's win the Bears move above .500 at home, with a 5-4 record at the Shu.
  • The Bears have been a better road team in Sealey's tenure, winning more road games then home games in each of the past two seasons.
  • Lincoln Memorial has started 12 different players at one point this season, the most in the SAC.  Newberry, on the other hand, has started the same five players all 19 games so far.
  • Bearden's 13 points put her at 499 career points.
