HICKORY, N.C. --- Anderson came into Shuford Gymnasium on a five-game winning streak but
Darius Simmons made sure they left on a one-game losing streak. The junior poured in a career-high 33 points on 14-of-20 shooting as the Bears moved to 1-0 on John Lentz Court. The Bears named the court after Lentz, who accumulated 432 wins as LR's Head Coach and scored 1,755 career points as a Bear, prior to tonight's tipoff.

Stats of the Game:
- An incredibly played contest saw neither team lead by double-digits and the lead changed 12 times. Despite shooting just 5-for-25 from long range, the Bears were able to find a way to win thanks to an epic night from Simmons. The guard missed just six shots on the night and added three boards and an assist. His step back jumper with 17 seconds to play gave LR a three point lead and capped a second half that saw him go 8-for-9 from the field.
- After recording his first career double-double last game, R.J. Gunn has strung together two straight double-doubles. The junior forward tallied 10 points and 12 boards (a career-high) and had a team-high four assists.
- Zim Fields came off the bench to pour in a career-high 23 points as the freshman has averaged 20.0 points per game over his last two contests. Fields went 6-for-8 from the field and set a career-high from the charity stripe, going 11-for-13. Fields also had a team-high four steals and grabbed five boards.
- LR shot 60 percent in the second half and 20-for-24 from the free throw line. LR committed just 10 turnovers on the game.
- Shawn Bernard matched Simmons blow-for-blow for most of the game as the Trojan guard went for 30 points on 11-of-18 shooting. Satchel Hester exploded for 14 rebounds and added 14 points in 39 minutes and Crosby James added 21 points and seven boards off the bench.
- Quin Nottingham came into tonight's game as the league's leading scorer but some stifling LR defense held him to a season-low three points and zero made field goals. Nottingham, who had 36 against the Bears on Dec. 14, was 0-for-12 from the field and didn't score a point in the first half.

- The Bears are 9-12 all-time against Anderson.
- With tonight's results, the Bears move into a three-way tie for sixth place in the SAC, while Anderson is tied with Tusculum for fourth place.

- Today served as Alumni Day for the men's basketball program, which coincided perfectly with the ceremony to name the court after Lentz.
- With just three home games left in the regular season, the Bears move to 5-4 in Hickory on the season.
