Hickory, N.C -- Lenoir-Rhyne's Softball team fell to No. 1 Young Harris in today's opening game but rebounded to beat Lees-McRae in the nightcap.
Talon LaClair went 3-4 with a homerun and four RBIs while
Savannah Moorefield added five more hits in six at-bats in today's action.

STATS OF GAME ONE:
- Young Harris got on the board first with a solo homer to lead off the 3th by Maddie Urquiola.
- Bears responded with three runs in the bottom of the third, with LaClair's two-run homer the big hit in the inning.
- After the Bears took the 3-1 lead, it was the Mountain Lions the rest of the way. Young Harris scored 12 runs in the next three innings including a seven-run 4th.
- Lauren Rakes took the loss in the circle, Rakes allowed 7 runs (5 earned) in her 3.2 innings. Rakes falls to 6-3 on the season.
- Moorefield had her 10th multiple hit game on the season as she went 2 for 3 with a walk.
- For the third game of the weekend the Bears had at least two errors in a game. LR had five errors in the two games against Young Harris.
STATS OF GAME TWO:
- LR did not waste any time jumping ahead of Lees-McRae in the finale, scoring 10 runs in the bottom of the first.
- Lora Beth Wood had three RBIs in the first inning in her two at-bats. Wood was hit by a pitch with bases loaded to get the Bears on the board, then later in the inning finished the scoring with a two-run single down the right field line.
- Kory Hammett went 3 for 3 with 2 doubles for the Bears. It was Hammett's first three hit game in her career.
- Moorefield stayed hot with three more hits. Moorefield has at least three hits in 5 of her last 7 games. Moorefield also scored a season high four runs in the contest.
- Taylor Hammett finished the scoring with a two-run homerun in the bottom of the fourth.
- Lauren Rakes pitched the complete game allowing two runs (0 earned) on three hits while striking out four. Rakes moved to 7-3 with the win.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Through 20 games, Bears 17-3 record is their 4th best in program history. Bears started 18-2 in 2007, 2010, and most recently 2017.
- Moorefield is hitting .679 in her last 7 games. (19-28) Moorefield is currently leading the SAC in hitting with a .522 average.
- Taylor Hammett's homerun was her first of her collegiate career.
- LR struggled fielding this weekend with 10 errors in four games, Bears had at least two errors in each game.
