Bristol TN--Lenoir--Rhyne's Softball team spilt a doubleheader with host King on Thursday. Bears took the first game 9-5 but fell in the nightcap 4-1. This was the Bears last non-conference tuneup before conference play starts on Tuesday at Queens.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

STATS OF GAME ONE:
- LR jumped up to a 4-0 lead with a four run first. Machensi Swain had a two-run double then Lauren Rakes had her first of two SAC fly's in the game before a throwing error allowed the fourth run to score.
- King cut the lead in half with a two run homerun in the bottom half.
- Rakes drove in the next two runs with a double in the 3rd and SAC fly in the 5th. Rakes helped the Bears stretched the lead to 7-2.
- After King battled back to cut the lead to 7-5, Talon LaClair added a much needed insurance runs with a two run homerun in the 6th.
- Rakes picked up her 8th win in the circle allowing 5 runs in 4 innings while Morgan Beeler picked up the save, finishing the last 2 1/3 innings, only allowing one hit.
STATS OF GAME TWO:
- Bears scored first with a rbi single by Hannah Jennings in the 5th inning but King got four unearned runs in the bottom of the 6th to take the game 4-1.
- Morgan Beeler went the distance in the circle, Beeler allowed 7 hits, 4 runs (0 earned) while striking out 2 hitters. It was Beeler's first lost of the season.
- Emma Hughes got the win for King, Hughes went all 7 and held the Bears to just four hits in the game and did not walk any.
- No Bears had multiple hit games and the top four in the lineup combined to go 2-12 on the game.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Since the Bears took eight straight games from King from 2014-2017, King has won four of the last seven with the Bears.
- Kylee Leonhardt scored her 75th career run in the first game.
- With her two RBIs in the first game, Talon LaClair is at 98 career RBIs for the Bears.
