HICKORY, N.C. – For the first time since 2004, the Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Team improved to 5-0 in South Atlantic Conference play with a win over Tusculum on Friday night. Each team entered the match unblemished in league play before the Bears came away with a win.

STATS OF THE MATCH:
- The Bears came out scorching, hitting .375 as a team on their way to a dominant 25-13 set one victory. The .375 mark represented the second-best single set total on the year for LR.
- The Bears ran out to a 14-6 lead in the second set and withstood a comeback attempt from the Pioneers who cut the lead to 17-13. LR would take the set 25-20 and grab a commanding 2-0 advantage.
- The third set was all LR who scored 18 of the first 23 points and cruised to a 25-11 win to clinch the sweep. The Bears topped their hitting percentage in the first set with a .385 mark in the finale.
- Taylor Prall led the Bears with eight kills and added a team-high 14 digs. Emma Clark had seven kills and a .600 hitting percentage to go with three blocks.
- Colette Romp had six kills and Braelyn Faust had five kills and led the Bears with seven total blocks.
- Rachel Wildermuth came off the bench to hand out 12 assists, setting a career-high.
- The Bears had six service aces on the night with three coming from Prall.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Tusculum had a 10-match winning streak heading into tonight. The Pioneers dropped the season-opener 3-1 but hadn't lost since Sept. 3.
- Tusculum had rallied from a 2-0 deficit to beat Wingate and were down 2-1 before coming back to defeat Carson-Newman.
- The Bears are 23-31 all-time against the Pioneers but have won two straight.
- LR went 12-2 in league play back in 2004 and started 7-0 in SAC play.
- The back-to-back sweeps of Tusculum mark the first time since 2015 LR posted consecutive 3-0 wins over the Pioneers.
- The win is LR's seventh straight overall after starting the year 0-2.
