ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - After finishing round one in 4th place, the Lenoir-Rhyne women's golf team moved up a spot on day two to finish 3rd in the 16-team field at the Flagler Fall Slam at Marsh Creek Country Club in St. Augustine, Fla. The Bears finished just six shots behind No. 2 Limestone who advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals in the spring. The Bears also finished just three shots behind No. 7 Anderson and beat No. 20 Carson-Newman by 23 shots.
Individually, the Bears had four players in the top 23 of the tournament.
Katie Sibley shot a second-round 72 to finish the tournament with a 149 and tied for fourth overall. Sibley shot a -1 on the front nine and birdied the seventh hole before sinking a birdie on the 10th hole. She would finish the back nine with a +1 to shoot even par on the afternoon.
Marta Cervero tied for 13th with a 153 and the duo of
Megan Robb and
Beatriz Espelosin shot a 156 and finished tied for 23rd.
Eleni Diakou led the Bears with three birdies on the day and shot a 73 on day two, one shot behind Sibley. Diakou finished the tournament in 37th win a 158 and moved up 32 spots today.
As a team, the Bears shaved five shots off their day one total to shoot a 301 today. The 607 was one shot about Seminole State and 16 ahead of tournament host Flagler.
