Harman's 33 Points Helps Bears To Double Overtime Victory

Hickory, N.C.--Emily Harman poured in a career-high 33 points to lead the Bears to a double overtime victory over Anderson 83-70 on Saturday afternoon in the Shu. The freshman added 11 rebounds for her second double-double on the season while the Bears went on a 16-1 run to end the game and earn there first win against the Trojans in Hickory since 2012. The win was LR's first overtime win since defeating Brevard 72-66 back on Feb. 8, 2016.

STATS AND INFO:
-LR's win today snaps Anderson's six-game winning streak against the Bears. 
-Weigt joined the starting lineup today for the time this year and 55th career start for the senior. 
-Weigt joined seniors Olivia Nunn and Addisen DeLucas in the starting lineup on Senior Day inside the Shu. 
-Harman's 33 points is the first 30-point game for a Bear since Madi Suddreth's 30 points on December 5, 2018

FIRST HALF:
-After Anderson got the first basket of the game, the Bears went on an 8-0 run and held Anderson scoreless the next 6 minutes. 
-J'mya Cutter's 3-pointer at the buzzer ended the first period and cut the Bears lead to 16-10. LR doubled up Anderson in the first quarter in both games this year, outscoring the Trojans 42-21. 
-LR opened the second quarter with a 10-2 run in the first three-plus minutes to open a double-digit lead before stretching the lead to sixteen at the half thanks to a three-pointer by Blaikley Crooks at the buzzer. 
-The Bears shot eight of ten from three in the first half, lead by five three pointers from Emily Harman on her way to 17 first half points. 

SECOND HALF + OVERTIME:
-After scoring 41 points in the first half, the Bears were held to 20 points in the second half and only had six field goals in the half.  The Bears ended up shooting 18.1% for the half.
-Anderson grabbed 14 offensive rebounds in the second half and overtime to add 15 second chance points which helped erased a 16 point halftime deficit. 
-After Anderson tied it up in the 4th quarter, the game featured 11 lead changes and 10 ties the rest of the away.
-Both teams had shots to win it. First, Weigt's shot at the buzzer of regulation hit the front of the rim, while Ashley Woodroffe just got a piece of J'Mya Cutter's potential game-winner jumper at the end of the first overtime.
-Bears dominated the second overtime, scoring the first 14 points of the overtime and holding Anderson to no field goals in the final five minutes. 

ABOUT THE BEARS:
-Harman scored a career high 33 points and 11 rebounds on the afternoon. Harman also added four assists and three steals while playing all but 21 seconds in the game. Emily is one of 7 players in all of D2 to play at least 49 minutes in a game this season. 
-Weigt and Woodroffe joined Harman in double figures as both guards added 14 points for the Bears. 
-LR led for over 38 minutes on the day. 
-Nakia Hooks added nine rebounds for the Bears while playing a career-high 41 minutes. 

NOTABLE TROJANS:
- Anderson came into the game number one in the nation in blocks and added 13 more on the afternoon led by Samantha Michel's six rejections. That is the most blocks against the Bears since Wingate's Taijah Jeter had six on February 1, 2020. 
-Michel, who leads the SAC in blocks also added 20 points and 14 rebounds on 9-18 shooting. 
-Sophomore guard Cutter poured in a career high 26 points in the losing effort for the Trojans.
