Crooks, Wagner Set Career Highs In Bears Home Finale Win

Hickory, N.C.-- Blaikley Crooks and Alyssa Wagner each set career-highs with 13 points in the Bears 63-52 win against Newberry in the Bears home finale. Emily Harman had a near triple-double finishing with 12 points, nine rebounds and nine assists.

STATS AND INFO:
-Today was both teams fourth games in eight days. The teams opened this stretch with Newberry's 72-61 win against the Bears last Monday in Newberry. 
-With the win today, the Bears finished 5-4 at home and for the third straight season had a winning record at home. 
-Mallory Sherrill was the fourth Bear in double figures with ten points. 
-Harman's nine assists is a career high for the freshman guard.
-The Bears last triple double was Kendall Toinetta on December 5, 2017. 

FIRST HALF:
- Bears jumped out to a 7-3 lead as they held the Wolves to one field goal in the first seven minutes of action. Wolves did cut the lead to one heading into the second quarter. 
- Bears went a 8-0 run to start the second quarter. In the first 1:48 of the quarter, the Bears got three-pointers from Kennedy Weigt, and Harman then a bucket from Sherrill, which forced the Wolves into a timeout. 
- LR continued their run, scoring 20 second quarter points in just over five minutes of action but only had two field goals after the media timeout. The Bears did shoot 76% from the floor in the second quarter after shooting 17% in the first quarter. 

SECOND HALF:
-The second half saw a back and forth battle but Newberry could not cut into the LR lead. LR opened a 22 point lead with eight minutes left to go before Newberry made a late-push but could not get within single digits. 
-Crooks had 11 of her career 13 points in the second half on 5-7 shooting. 
-The Bears had eight assists in the half on their twelve buckets. 

ABOUT THE BEARS:
- With 12 points tonight, Freshman Emily Harman went over the 200 points mark in just her 15th game of the season. Harman also grabbed her 100th rebound on the season.
-Three of Wagner's four highest scoring outputs have come against the Wolves. 
-WIth another three-pointer tonight, Weigt will need five more to hit 200 three-pointers in her career. 
-Crooks recorded her 100th point with her 4th quarter basket. 

NOTABLE WOLVES:
- Courtney Virgo came into the game first in the SAC in three-pointers attempted and made but the Bears limited her to 2-5 from long range. 
- Keli Romas lead the Wolvers with 12 points and added five rebounds on the evening. 10 of Romas's 12 points came in the second half.
- Talia Roberts also had double figures with 11 points with seven of the 11 points from the free-throw line. 
 
UP NEXT:  LR will close out the regular season with a trip to Queens on Wednesday at 5:30 PM.
