Harman's 29 Points Helps Bears Snap Road Losing Streak

Charlotte, N.C.--The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Basketball Team snapped their 13 game road losing streak with a 72-61 win at Queens to end the regular season. Emily Harman had 29 points and added eight rebounds to lead the Bears, while Blaikley Crooks had a career-high 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting.

STATS AND INFO:
  • The Bears earned their first win on the road this season as they finished 1-9 away from Shuford during the regular season. 
  • Queens will end the regular season with an eleven game losing streak as the Bears swept the season series. 
  • Harman and Tusculum's Maddie Sutton are the only two players in the top 12 in the SAC in points, rebounds and assists per game entering tonight. 
FIRST HALF:
  • The shooting stats were dead even in the first half as LR shot 44% and Queens shot 45% from the field. Both teams went 5-of-7 from long range in the half but the Bears held a 19-7 advantage on the boards.
  • Thanks to the advantage on the glass, the Bears outscored the Royals 9-0 on second chance points.
  • The Bears used a 9-2 run to end the half and took a 33-28 lead in into the break. 
SECOND HALF:
  • After the Queens cut it to three points early in the third quarter, the Bears went on a 11-1 run to open a double-digit lead. The Bears took advantage of Queens shooting 16% from the floor in that third quarter. 
  • LR opened a 14 point lead twice in the fourth quarter before the Royals made a little run. Queens cut the lead to six with 48 seconds left but the Bears hit 7-for-10 from the free throw line in the last minute. 
  • The Bears were aggressive in the second half, getting to the charity stripe 20 times in the half including going 6-of-8 in the third quarter during their big run. 
  • The Bears had a 24-11 advantage tonight in scoring from the bench.

ABOUT THE BEARS:
  • For the second straight game, Crooks set a new career-high in points. Crooks had 13 points on Monday and 14 points tonight. 
  • Nakia Hooks added nine rebounds on the night. The sophomore has 27 rebounds in her last three games. 
  • Kiara Moore had a season-high seven points in 16 minutes of action tonight. Moore added five assists.
  • Kennedy Weigt hit her 196th career three-pointer tonight. 

NOTABLE ROYALS:
  • Sophomore Kalaya Hall had a career-high 30 points for the Royals. Hall has now scored at least 20 points in five of seven games.
  • Christina Deng had seven points, thirteen rebounds and four blocks in 28 minutes off the bench.
  • It was senior night inside Curry Arena for the Royals tonight. 
 
UP NEXT:  The SAC Tournament begins Saturday with first round action at Limestone. Tip-off is at 2:00 PM.
