Hickory, N.C.--The Lenoir-Rhyne Baseball team dropped a pair of extra inning thrillers to visiting Newberry on Saturday.
Drue Galassi hit a pair of homeruns for the Bears, including the game-tying homerun in the 7th to force extra innings in game two.

STATS OF GAME ONE:
- After Newberry scratched a run in the first, Galassi got it back plus one with his 11th homerun of the season.
- The Wolves tied it at two with a two-out single by Ian Clements in the 2nd.Â
- Newberry took the lead back in the 3rd without getting the ball out of the infield on a hit and two errors by the Bears which helped the Wolves gain a 3-2 advantage.
- Connor Smith got the Bears even with a solo shot to lead off the bottom of the 5th.Â
- The game remained tied until the 11th when the Wolves broke through with three runs off Kanan Butler (0-1)
- Alex Shirazi was brilliant in the no decision. Shirazi went a career high ten innings and did not allow a run in his last seven frames. Shirazi allowed only five hits and struck out nine Wolves.Â
STATS OF GAME TWO:Â
- Will Jones scored on a shallow pop up that Newberry's second baseman Dalton Lansdowne caught running with his back to the infield to give the Bears a 1-0 lead in the second.Â
- Lansdowne got the run back for the Wolves with a single to right field in the following inning.Â
- Newberry's Kenny Bergmann got the Wolves back in the lead with his first homerun of the year a solo shot in the 5th.
- Bears tied it with a Wade Cuda safety squeeze scoring Xander Ferlenda in the bottom of the 5th.Â
- Wolves took a 6-3 lead after scoring three times in the top of the 7th. A Zachary Biles sacrifice fly and a two-run double by Luke Orr gave them the lead.
- However the Wolves could not hold the lead as Galassi hit a three-run homerun to tie it with one out in the 7th.
- Newberry thought they added two runs of the bat of Aidan Baur in the 9th but Jones made a leaping catch at the wall to keep it tied.Â
- In the Top of the 10th, Newberry got an infield hit, wild pitch, passed ball and then got the run scored on a safety squeeze by Ian Clements.
- Bears had the tying and winning run on base in the bottom half but Newberry's Devin Makovsky (2-1) got Cuda to foul out to end the game.Â
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Both of teams entered today in the top 25 in stolen bases on the year. The Bears are 25th with 52 stolen bases while Newberry is 5th with 68.Â
- Both teams entered today in the top five in batting average in the SAC. LR entered hitting at .305 clip while Newberry was right below them with a .298 average.
- However LR comes into the game leading the conference with 56 homeruns while the Wolves have only hit five long balls on the year.Â
- Jones'Â single to right field in the second of game was his 150th career hit.Â
- Wade Cuda's last nine games has seen the freshman hit .407 with three doubles and nine run scored and has at least one hit in eight of nine games.Â
- Shirazi will finish the regular season with a career best 2.65 ERA.Â
- Galassi's two homeruns today tied him for the SAC lead.Â
