Women's Basketball Snaps Skid with Victory over Lincoln Memorial

Harrogate, Tenn.- The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Basketball Team snapped a four game losing skid with a 62-43 win at Lincoln Memorial game on a rare Monday night game. The Bears held Lincoln Memorial scoreless from the floor for 13:55 during the second and third quarter. Brandi Hudson had a game high 19 points while Emily Harman added 18 points and 7 rebounds.

STATS AND INFO:
  • Bears have now won five straight games against Lincoln Memorial with tonights win.
  • This is the first of four straight on the road for Lenoir-Rhyne. The Bears will not return to Shu until February 5th against Limestone. 
  • Lincoln Memorial is one of two teams to have four players averaging at least ten points per game.
  • Both games this season against each other had to be rescheduled. Today's game was originally schedule for January 8th. The Railsplitters will travel to Hickory on February 21st. 
FIRST HALF:
  • First quarter saw the two different offense styles for these teams. The Railsplitters took twelve shots in the quarter, nine of them from long range while the Bears only took one three pointer in the quarter while having ten points in the paint.
  • Blaikely Crooks hit a jumper at the buzzer  from just inside the top of the key at the end of the first quarter to give the Bears 21-14 lead. 
  • A field goal 45 seconds into the second quarter was Lincoln Memorial's last field goal of the quarter as the Bears held the Railsplitters without a field goal for the last 9:15.
  • Bears took a 38-19 lead into half time behind 50% shooting.
  • Harman had a baker's dozen in the first half and four steals to top it off, one off her career high.
SECOND HALF:
  • A three by Irelynn Davisson with 5:20 left in the third quarter was LMUs first field goal for a 13:55 stretch, a stretch that saw the Bears outscore the Railsplitters 27-8. 
  • LR opened a 21 point lead after three and biggest lead was 30 on the night. 
  • LR held the Railsplitters to just 30.6% from the floor, Lincoln Memorial finished the night 15-49 shooting.
  • Bears won the turnover batter as well forcing Lincoln Memorial into 23 turnovers while the Bears only turned it over 12 times on the evening.
ABOUT THE BEARS:
  • Hudson continued her hot start in 2022, scoring 19 points on the evening. Hudson is averaging 22.0 points in the five games since the calendar flipped to 2022.
  • Harman did a little bit over everything on the night with 18 points, seven rebounds, three assists and career-high six steals in 38 minutes of action.
  • Maddie Dillinger added eight points and seven rebounds while Megan Landsiedel added six rebounds and a career high seven assists. 
NOTABLE RAILSPLITTERS:
  • Lauren Flowers was the lone Railsplitters in double figures with 10 on 3-8 shooting. 
  • Lindsay Profitt added seven points and seven rebounds but shot just 1-8 from three, Profitt entered the game leading the SAC in three point %.
  • 43 points was a season low for Lincoln Memorial.
