Women's Swimming Sweeps Guilford Invite to Start Season

Final Results

Greensboro, N.C.-- The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Swimming Team won all nine events to start their 2022-23 season on Saturday at the Guilford College Invite. Four different Bear swimmers won their events as Lisa Boernigen took home four first place finishes.   

The Bears started their season with a victory in the 200 Free Relay. Elizabeth Bowman, Boernigen, Kayana Taylor and Ella Penny took him the top spot with a 1:40.50 time. That group was not done as they teamed up later in the afternoon to win the 200 Medlay Realy with a time of 1:55.76.

Boernigen started her senior year with victories in the 100 Fly, 100 Free, 50 Free and 200 Free. Boernigen had a time of 1:59.10 in the 200 Free. 

Bowman got a victory in the 200 IM with a time of 2:18.39 and Anna Harshaw with a time of 1:09.84 won the 100 Breast. Penny won her first event as a Bear in the 100 Back. 

LR won the seven team event with a score of 814.50 well ahead of second place William Peace, who finished with 237.50 points. The Bears will now gear up for their home opener on Friday October 14th against Mars Hill.
