Charlotte, N.C.-- The Lenoir-Rhyne Swimming Teams spent the weekend completing in the three day Fall Frenzy, hosted by Queens University. The field included host Queens, Nova Southeastern, Wingate, Emmanuel College, Catawba. James Madison and UNC-Asheville, both division one schools, completed in the Women's field as well.
The Women finished in eighth in the star studded field finishing with 369 points while host Queens take the team event with a total of 1540.50.
Lisa Boernigen had the best finish for LR on the Women's side this weekend with a 13th place finish in the 200 IM, which was good for 5th in the consolation swim. Boernigen won the 100 fly (57.16) and 200 fly (2:06.23) bonus heat for a 17th place in each of these events. For the events the top 24 qualified for the finals each night, the top eight qualified to swim in the championship heat while the next eight completed in the consolation swim followed by the next eight in the bonus heat.
Ella Penny finished 17th in the 200 Back with a time of 2:07.67 and finished 22nd in the 100 back earlier in the night with a time of 59.82.
The Men finished in fifth place in their six team field finishing ahead of SAC-foe Catawba. The Bears finished with 584 points while Queens also took home the Men's championship with 2545 points. Micah McRea qualified for the 200 IM championship and later that evening finished in sixth place. McRea was the top DII finisher in the event as the top-five from the field were all from Queens. McRea also had a 9th place finish in the Breast (55.62), 11th place finish in the 100 Free (46.00) than a 14th place finish in the 100 Fly (50.93).
Renato Herran finished in 17th in the 100 Fly and 21st in the Free on the weekend while Levi McRea had a 15th place finish in the 400 IM with a time of 4.09.33. Cordin Schrum finished 1st in the bonus heat in the 200 Breast with a time of 2:14.79.
LR did well in the backstroke events as Herran and Nathan McCormick finished 1st and 2nd in the bonus heat. McCormick than qualified for the consolation heat in the 200 back and finished in 16th place with a time of 1:56.46.
Both teams will be heading to Clearwater, Florida for the annual Spartan Invite, hosted by the University of Tampa. The four day event kick-offs on Friday December 16th.
