St. Augustine, Fla.- The Lenoir-Rhyne Softball team battled back in both games but eventually fell twice on day one of the Old Coast Classic in St. Augustine, Fla. In game one, the Bears scored five runs in the top of the 4th to take a 7-6 lead but Flager scored the last three runs to win 9-7. In the game two of the day, Â
Kylee Leonhardt hit her 42nd career homerun to tie it at three in the 6th but Nova Southeastern scratched a run across in the bottom half and held on to win 4-3.Â

STATS OF GAME ONE:
- Saints got on the board with a two-out single by Kyleigh Taylor in the bottom of the first to grab the early 1-0 lead.Â
- Bears countered with their own two-out hit in the top of the second as Julia Mardigian drove in Hannah Jennings with a single to right to tie it at one.
- Flager then put up a five spot in the bottom of the second without recording an out to jump out to a 6-1 lead.Â
- Bears got one back in the top of the 3rd with a Cassidy Wall double to left scoring Savannah Moorefield.Â
- Jennings then lead off the top of the 4th with a solo homerun.
- With the bases loaded, two-outs and a 3-2 count, Leonhardt give the Bears their first lead of the day with a base-clearing double to right center.Â
- Saints tied it with unearned run in the bottom half.Â
- Flager's Madelyn Childs got the big hit in the bottom of the 5th with a two-out two-run single to regain the lead for the Saints.Â
- Morgan Beeler took the lost in the circle pitching five innings in relief. Beeler (1-1) only allowed two earned runs and three hits in her five innings while striking out four.Â
STATS OF GAME TWO:
- Nova Southeastern scored first with an unearned run in the 2nd before Mardgian tied it up with a sac fly in the top of the 3rd.
- The Sharks Madison Fine gave them the lead with an RBI double in the bottom of the inning. Fine then drove in another run in the bottom of the 5th with a RBI single to make it 3-1.
- Leonhardt tied the game with a two-run homerun in the top of the 6th.
- Nova Southeastern took the lead back again when Ryleigh Langwell hit into a fielder choice and Haley Hendricks scored in the bottom half of the 6th.
- Brooklin Heavner (0-1) got her first career start pitching five plus innings while giving up three earned runs on the afternoon.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- This was the 8th all-time meeting between the Bears and Flager but the first time LR has played in St. Augustine.Â
- In the night cap, it was the first time in program history the Bears have played Nova Southeastern.Â
- Moorefield scored her 154th career run in the first game which moves her all alone in sixth place in program history.Â
- Moorefield went 3-6 in the doubleheader today with three runs scored.Â
- Jennings homerun in the first game was the senior's second career homerun.
- Leonhardt with five RBIs on the day now has 149 career RBIs and moves up to 7th on the all-time list in program history.Â
