Third Quarter Dooms Women's Basketball in 72-64 Loss at Anderson

Anderson, S.C.-- A 15-4 run for Anderson to start the second half was too much to overcome as the Bears fell to the Trojans 72-64. LR cut the Trojans lead to one at 65-64 but Anderson scored the last seven points as the Bears late rally fell short. Emily Harman had 20 points and Brandi Hudson added 19 for the Bears.

STATS AND INFO:
  • Harman is averaging 28.0 points in four career games against Anderson including today contest.
  • LR's struggles in Anderson continue as the Bears are now 1-9 in their last ten games here. 
  • Blaikley Crooks, a sophomore guard from Morganton, N.C.  had a career high seven rebounds for the Bears.
FIRST HALF:
  • Anderson had a three point lead after one and took just a one point lead into intermission. 
  • Trojans shot 45.2% from the floor the first half while the Bears shot 40.0% however Hudson and Harman combined to shot 5-21 from the floor for the Bears.
  • Anderson's Diamond McDowell had ten rebounds (five offensive) in the first half. 
  • Maddie Dillinger had eight points and six rebounds in the first half. 
SECOND HALF:
  • A 15-4 Anderson run to start the 3rd quarter gave them their biggest lead at 51-39. 
  • Bears made a run to start the fourth quarter, five straight points from Harman, a three by Hanna Mcclung then a Hudson layup wth 1:54 left cut the Trojans lead to just one at 65-64.
  • However, Anderson would score the last seven points to hold on for a 72-64 win. The Bears missed their last four shots while Anderson made 5 of 6 from the free throw line to close the game out. 
ABOUT THE BEARS:
  • Harman scored 20 points on the night and has scored at least 20 points in all four career games against the Trojans. 
  • Hudson added 19 points and five rebounds for the Bears. 
  • Harman and Hudson played 79 of 80 minutes on the night.
  • McClung added 8 points including a pair of three pointers. 
  • Bears committed a season-low seven turnovers. 
NOTABLE TROJANS:
  • SAC Player of the week for the last three weeks, Shameka McNeil had a game-high 24 points.
  • McDowell finished with 19 rebounds and added 13 points.
  • Brttney Stafford scored 14 points for Anderson while playing all 40 minutes.
