Bears Fall to No. 8 Rollins in Home Opener

Hickory, N.C.- The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Lacrosse Team fell to No. 8 Rollins 18-6 in the 2022 home opener on Friday afternoon. After the Bears scored the first goal of the game, Rollins went on a 7-0 run to take control and defeat the Bears. Suzy Smith had a pair of goals and Kaitlyn Lehman had a goal and an assist.

STATS OF THE GAME:
- LR did strike first with a goal from Lehman less then 90 seconds into the match. 
- Suzy Smith stopped the Tars 7-0 run with back-to-back goals late in the first quarter.
- Rollins then went on other run, this time a five goal spurt, before Jolan Morey scored her 4th goal of the season to cut the lead to 12-4.
- Liz Fahey scored her fourth goal of the half for the Tars right before intermission as Rollins took a 14-4 lead into the break.
- Emilee Foxall had the Bears lone goal in the third quarter as the Tars took a 16-5 lead into the fourth.
- Chloe Christensen got her second goal of the season in a man-up situation with 10:25 left in the game for the Bears last goal of the game.
- Isabelle Dunnam caused four turnovers and added four ground balls on the afternoon.
- Ellie Campbell had six draw controls for LR in her return from injury.
- Teanna Sieben made eight saves in the contest for the Bears.
- Bears were out shot 32-10 on the afternoon. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- LR has not beaten Rollins in program history. Today's matchup was meeting number 12 between the two teams.
- LR is searching for this first win over a ranked opponent since beating No.17 Queens on March 21, 2018.
- LR will take their third crack at program win No. 100 on Wednesday.
- Smith's two goals today makes her two goals shy of her 50th career goal.
- Today was the first of four games at home for the Bears. Gannon comes to town on Wednesday and then Coker comes to Hickory on Saturday to open SAC play before a meeting with Alabama-Huntsville closes out the home stand.
