HICKORY, N.C. - Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Tennis is off to a perfect 3-0 start in SAC play after dispatching Newberry 6-1 today at the Hickory YMCA. The Bears won all but one of the singles matches, and two out of three doubles matches to comfortably knock off the Wolves.

In doubles, the dominant duo of Rhodri Atkinson and Josh Lazenby continued their strong stretch at No. 1, winning 6-0. Patrik Alvestrand and Lewis Scott also were victorious at No. 3 doubles, 6-3.

In singles, the reigning SAC Player of the Week Lazenby finished off a 2-0 day at No. 2 (7-5, 7-5), as did Scott at No. 3 (3-6, 6-3, 10-5), along with Alvestrand at No. 5 (8-3). Joel Hemmings finished on top at No. 4 (6-3, 6-2), and Mauricio Hernandez finished things off for the Bears in a tiebreak win at No. 6 (6-1, 7-6 (2)). 

LR moves to 3-0 in the SAC, and will be back in action in non-conference play on Tuesday when they travel to King (Tenn.).
