WILSON, N.C. - Lenoir-Rhyne Baseball won its 21st game in the last 22 outings and improved its record to 24-2 on the season with an 8-4 road midweek win at Barton on Tuesday afternoon. The Bears racked up 16 hits, including four from
Brayden Collett and three from
Anthony Porrino, and
Matt Mackey hit his 4th home run of the season to make things comfortable for the Bears. LR completes the season sweep of Barton.

STATS AND INFO
- The two teams were scoreless through the first two and a half innings of this one, and Barton scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the 3rd to make it 1-0. The next half inning, Nick Clarno drove in the tying run with a line drive sacrifice fly to left field to score Drew Yniesta.
- The Bears put up three runs in the 5th, starting with a solo blast to left field from Mackey, his 4th of the season.
- Collett came in to score on an RBI infield single from Wade Cuda, and David Bell scored on a sacrifice fly foulout from Yniesta. Barton hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the 5th to make it 4-3 ballgame after five.
- The Bears struck again in the 6th, with Collett driving in Clarno and Porrino with a two-run single. The freshman went 4-for-4 today, and has hit safely in eight out of his last nine games.
- Porrino drove in Luis Atiles in the 7th with an RBI single for his team-leading 32nd RBI of the year.
- Atiles added an RBI himself in the 8th on a sacrifice fly, and that was all the offense the Bears need to cruise to an 8-4 win.
- Kanan Butler got his first win of the season on the mound, pitching 1 1/3 innings of scoreless ball in relief. Braden Houston, Spencer Floyd and Jackson Reid all pitched for the Bears to secure the victory after starter Tanner Moyers was lifted before he got to 50 pitches.

- With the win, LR won both matchups with Barton in 2022 and take a 12-11 lead in the all-time series with the Bulldogs. Porrino hit a walk-off three-run home run in the first meeting to kickstart the Bears' 19-game winning streak earlier this season.
- Several Bears have hitting streaks currently going. Porrino's is at six games, David Bell's is at five, Yniesta's is at five, and Collett's is also at five.
- This game was the beginning of the 2nd half of the season for LR, who has 50 games on the regular season schedule in 2022.
- This is the seventh game this season that the Bears have recorded 15 hits or more.
