Hickory, N.C.-- The Lenoir-Rhyne Softball Team dropped a pair of two-run games against No. 22 Anderson on Saturday afternoon.
Kylee Leonhardt had five hits today including her 200th career hit while
Leanna Sherrill went 4-7 on the day including a home run and 3 RBIs in the night cap. The Bears had the tying runs on base in the bottom of the 7th in both games but could not get them across the plate as the Bears lost their first two games at home after starting the season 14-0 at Bears Field.

STATS OF GAME ONE:
- Maddie Carpenter got the Trojans on the board with a solo home run in the first.
- Leonhardt tied it in the bottom half with a two-out single scoring Savannah Moorefield.
- Bears added a pair of unearned runs in the bottom of the second to take a 3-1 lead.
- Carpenter added another RBI with a single in the third, then came around to score on Kayson Boatner's 13th home run of the year as the Trojans took a 4-3 lead. Boatner leads the SAC in homers.
- Bears regained the lead in the fourth with a Julia Mardigian RBI double and a Lora Beth Wood sacrifice fly as LR took a 5-4 lead into the 5th.
- Boatner tied it back at five with an RBI double in the 5th in this back-and-forth game.
- The top of the 6th saw a hit by pitch, walk, hit by pitch, then a groundout to give the Trojans a 6-5 lead.
- Anderson's Morgan Charter gave the Trojans insurance runs with a two-run shot in the 7th.
- Mardigian added an RBI single in the 7th to get the Bears within two but the Trojans got Wood to strikeout to end the game with the tying runs on base.
- Rakes (11-2) took the loss throwing the complete game while striking out seven.
- Mardigian and Leonhardt each had three hits in the game.
STATS OF GAME TWO:
- After the Trojans got on the board in the second, Leanna Sherrill gave the Bears a 2-1 lead with a two-run home run, her 7th career bomb and first this year.
- Anderson's Hannah Whitaker hit her 11th home run of the season, a two-run blast to give the Trojans the 3-2 lead after three.
- Carpenter added her third RBI of the day and first of the second game to give Anderson a 4-2 lead.
- Moorefield tripled with one out in the 4th and scored on a Hannah Jennings' sac fly to cut the lead to one in the bottom of the fourth.
- Sherrill tied it up at four with an RBI double in the 5th for her third RBI of the game.
- Anderson then put it away with a three-spot in the seventh. After a bases-loaded walk. Wheeler's two-run double gave the Trojans a 7-4 lead. But, for the second straight game, the Bears had the tying runs on base in the bottom of the seventh but could not get them across the plate.
- After a Moorefield single made it 7-5 with two outs and her and Sherrill on base, Jennings flew out to left to end the game.
- Morgan Beeler (9-6) gave up ten hits and five walks in the complete game in the circle but struck out four.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- In the last meeting, Anderson defeated the Bears 5-4 in the 2021 SAC Conference Tournament Quarterfinals.
- Moorefield also stretched her on-base streak to 31 games.
- Rakes and Maxwell came into the day first and second in the SAC in strikeouts. Rakes has seven in game one and Maxwell six in the win in game two.
- Leonhardt's first hit in game two was her 200th career hit.
- Wall entered the day 4th in the SAC in doubles (12) and 6th in RBI (29).
- LR moved to 8-2 when scoring at least six runs.
- Bears first time this year getting swept in a doubleheader.
