Hickory, N.C.-- After the Lenoir-Rhyne Softball Team saw their 14 game home winning streak come to an end last weekend, the Bears rebounded with a sweep of the visiting Lions from Mars Hill. Savannah Moorefield went 6-7 on the afternoon while Katelyn Rackard and Hannah Jennings each homered during the day as the Bears came away with a 8-3 and 12-1 wins.

STATS OF GAME ONE:
- Lions stuck for two runs just three batters into the game when Maggie Langheim hit a two run homerun on the 13th pitch of the at-bat from Lauren Rakes.
- Cassidy Wall tied the game in the bottom of the 1st with a two-run double, her 13th double of the season.
- Kendall Osborne gave the Bears the lead for good with a two run single later in the inning.
- Rakes then helped herself with a RBI single in the 3rd.
- Rackard hit a two run homerun in the 3rd to give the Bears a 7-2 lead. Rackard returned to the lineup after missing the last eight games.
- Mars Hill added an run with a Micki Maxson RBI double in the 4th.
- The Bears added a run in the 6th as they finished the 8-3 win with eight hits on the afternoon.
- Rakes moved to 12-2 on the season with a complete game. Rakes struck out eight Lions on the afternoon.
- Moorefield stole three bases in game one (added a 4th in game two) and now has 55 career stole bases, third all-time.
STATS OF GAME TWO:
- The Bears jumped ahead of the Lions with three runs in the first including a Julia Mardigian RBI double.
- Mardigian had another RBI in the five-run second, which also included RBI doubles by Lora Beth Wood and Wall.
- Jennings added her third homerun of the season, a three run shot in the 3rd.
- Mars Hill avoided the shutout with a single run in the 5th after a lead-off double from Zoie Pistel. Pistel had two of the Lions five hits in the game.
- Morgan Beeler moves to 10-6 with the complete game in the circle. Beeler allowed just one run on five hits.
- 10 different Bears had hits in the game lead by Moorefield with three hits.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Bears have now won 17 straight games against the Lions.
- Moorefield came into the game with .383 season average and career average.
- Moorefield has now reached base in all 33 games this season.
- Sarah Kenley reached based 39 straight games during the end of the 2016 season and the start of the 2017 season.
- Moorefield's double in the 3rd it was the senior's 250th career hit. Moorefield is just the 4th player all-time in program history with 250 career hits.
- Moorefield's five runs moves her to second all-time with 190 career runs.
- Beeler's victory was her 25th career win in the circle for the Bears.
- The 12 runs in game two was the third time the Bears have reached double digits this year and the most runs scored this season.
- Bears have moved to 67-1 since 2015 when scoring 10+ plus runs.
