HICKORY, N.C. - Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Tennis saw its eight-match winning streak end on Thursday afternoon as they lost to Division I North Carolina A&T by a score of 4-2. The Bears won two out of the three doubles matches to score that point, but only were able to win one singles match after several close calls in the singles round.
In doubles, reigning SAC Player of the Year
Rhodri Atkinson and
Josh Lazenby won 6-4 at No. 1, and
Patrik Alvestrand and reigning SAC Player of the Week
Lewis Scott won 6-3 at No. 3.
In singles,
Connor Gibson was the only Bear winner, beating his opponent 6-3, 6-4 at No. 6 singles. Atkinson lost a three-set match 5-7, 6-4, 3-6 at No. 1, and Scott lost 6-2, 2-6, 3-6 at No. 3.
The Bears are still undefeated in SAC play and will look to remain that way on Saturday when Carson-Newman comes to town for a 2 p.m. first serve.
