Baseball Drops Extra Inning Affair at Catawba

SALISBURY, N.C. - Lenoir-Rhyne Baseball lost in extra innings for the first time this season 2-1 in the series opener at Catawba. Zack Miller had both RBIs for the Indians, including the walk-off single in the 10th inning.

STATS AND INFO
  • The Bears were only able to muster three hits on offense, two of them by Anthony Porrino, and the lone RBI belonged to Brett Eurey, who drove in Porrino in the 2nd inning. 
  • The Bears were up 1-0 after five, but Miller's RBI double in the 6th drew the score even. Neither team would score again until extra innings. 
  • Austin Edwards got the start and pitched well for the Bears, going four innings, allowing just one hit and striking out six. 
  • Braden Houston and Ben Friebel each pitched scoreless innings for LR as well. 
  • The Bears had more errors (4) than hits (3) in the game. 
  • Greg Brown pitched all 10 innings for Catawba, surrendering just the three hits, one run and also had 10 strikeouts. He threw 122 pitches.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
  • This is the first extra inning loss of the year for the Bears. They were previously 2-0 in extra inning games this season. 
  • This is the first time the Bears have lost back-to-back games this season. They previously were 3-0 coming off a loss. 
  • Houston's ERA is lowered to 0.64, and Friebel's is down to 1.59. 
  • This was the first time the Bears traveled to Catawba since March of 2020.
