CoSIDA Release

HICKORY, N.C. – The 2022 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) At-Large Academic All-America teams were announced this afternoon and Lenoir-Rhyne had three student-athletes make the list. LR had Myles Moffat and Mitchell Linklater from men's lacrosse named as First Team Academic All-Americans, while Lewis Scott of men's tennis was a Third Team selection.

The men's At-Large program for Academic All-Americans is the most difficult to earn because it is selected from student-athletes who compete at Division II institutions in fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, volleyball or wrestling.

Moffat and Linklater are repeat At-Large Academic All-Americans as the duo were the first men's lacrosse players to earn the distinction in program history in 2021. Linklater was a Second Teamer while Moffat was a Third Teamer but they were both announced as First Team honorees this year. The duo led LR to a National Quarterfinal, a SAC regular season and SAC tournament title and were both all-conference selections. Linklater had a 3.98 undergrad GPA with a perfect 4.0 graduate GPA while Moffat had a 3.90 as an undergrad and a 4.0 as a graduate student.

Lewis Scott becomes the second men's tennis player in program history to earn CoSIDA Academic All-American status, joining Paul Lenz who earned the distinction in 2020. Scott earned a 14-5 record in singles play and went 11-6 at doubles. Scott, a senior from Newcastle, England, achieved a 3.98 GPA as a dual major in multimedia communications and political science. Scott led the Bears to just their second-ever national ranking in program history and a school-record eight-game winning streak.

This trio gives Lenoir-Rhyne 18 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans in the past three academic years.
