COKER, S.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Team opened the South Atlantic Conference portion of the 2022 schedule with a convincing 3-0 win over Coker on Tuesday night.

STATS OF THE MATCH:
- LR scored the first six points of the first set and never looked back. LR finished the frame hitting a scorching .516 with just two errors and freshman Emmaleigh Allen tallied seven first-set kills.
- The Bears led by as many as 7 (12-5) in the second set but the Cobras would storm back. A 16-9 run would even the contest at 21.
- The set would remain tied at 23 when LR took a timeout. After the stoppage, Ashley Hawkins recorded back-to-back kills to seal the 25-23 victory and put LR up 2-0.
- LR would fall behind early in the third set before rallying back. Coker grabbed a 7-2 advantage but the Bears stormed back with 10 unanswered points to take a 12-7 lead.
- The Bears would go on to win the final set 25-8 and scored 23 of the last 24 points in the frame.
- LR forced Coker into seven hitting errors in the third set and a -.200 hitting percentage.
- Hawkins and Colette Romp would each finish with 14 kills and Mackenzie Hulsey dished out 48 assists.
- Bailey Carpenter had 21 digs for LR.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Lenoir-Rhyne is now 21-3 all-time against Coker and 9-2 in the DeLoach Center.
- LR has won eight straight over Coker with six coming by a final score of 3-0.
- These two teams won't meet again until October 19.
UP NEXT: LR will look ahead to the UNC Pembroke Tournament this weekend. LR plays four games starting with a matchup against Embry-Riddle on Friday at 2 p.m.
