MARS HILL, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Swimming Team captured its first dual meet victory of the season with a 129-118 result over Mars Hill.
Freshman Anna Buchert led the way for the Bears with first place finishes in 500-yard and 1000-yard freestyle events. The Spartanburg, S.C. native collected a team-high 29 points with times of 5:25.59 and 10:58.53 in the 500-yard and 1000-yard races, respectively.
Buchert also served as the third leg of the 400-yard freestyle relay team that recorded a first-place finish with a time of 3:50.25. The team also included Olivia DeRosier, Katherine Hudson and Devin Poteat to secure 11 points.
DeRosier also notched nine points with her victory in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:04.93. Meanwhile for Poteat, she garnered nine points of her own with a first-place time of 56.90 in the 100-yard freestyle.
Hudson had a couple of top two results with a first-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a 27.08 posting, and a second-place result in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:05.42. The Kernersville, N.C. native recorded 13 points alone off those two outcomes.
Sydney Huffman and Ann-Cathrine Beissel, a pair of freshmen, recorded winning times in the 100-yard backstroke and 100-yard butterfly, respectively. Huffman recorded a time of 1:12.96 in her event while Beissel finished a time of 1:03.06.
Sophomore Trinity Price recorded the top spot in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:29.11.
The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Swimming Team will return to the pool for its first home dual meet of the season on Saturday, Oct. 21 vs. King. The event is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Shuford Pool.
