HICKORY, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Swimming Team recorded back-to-back dual meet victories in 24 hours thanks to a 137-95 result over King.
In the relay events, the Bears won the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:50.39 and came in second for the 400-yard individual medley relay with a 4:16.93 posting. Both teams were made up of Ann-Cathrine Beissel, Devin Poteat, Anna Buchert, and Katherine Hudson.
In addition to her efforts in the relays, Beissel also notched two first place finishes in butterfly events. The freshman recorded a time of 28.39 in the 50-yard butterfly and a time of 1:03.22 in the 100-yard butterfly.
Buchert also had a couple of first place results with times of 4:48.58 in the 400-yard individual medley and 11:14.50 in the 1000-yard freestyle. Jenna Malave finished just behind Buchert in the 1000-yard race with a time of 11:56.23.
Hudson recorded two top finishes in short-distance freestyle events. The sophomore had a first-place finish in the 100-yard race with a time of 58.37 and a second-place result in the 50-yard race with a time of 27.37.
Poteat just came up short in her two individual races with second place times in the 50-yard and 100-yard breaststroke events. The sophomore recorded a 33.00 posting in the 50-yard race while she also produced a time of 1:12.14 in the 100-yard race.
Another LR swimmer who had a big night in the pool was Olivia DeRosier. The Richmond, Va. native finished in first place for two separate freestyle events, with times of 2:05.42 and 5:36.01 in the 200-yard and 500-yard races, respectively. In addition to the 500-yard freestyle race, Trinity Price came in second with her time of 5:50.88.
Emma Nash also took first place in the 100-yard backstroke event with a time of 1:13.31. The freshman swam uncontested to get her first collegiate victory.
In the 50-yard backstroke, Sydney Huffman recorded a second-place finish with a time of 33.87.
The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Swimming Team will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 28 for a home dual meet against Wingate. The competition is scheduled for a 10 a.m. start at the Shuford Pool.
