Charlotte, N.C.-- The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Swimming team finished fourth in the first ever SAC Championship. The Bears finished with 881 points while Wingate took home the championship with 2038 points. Carson-Newman finished second while Catawba jumped the Bears on the final day to finish in third place. Emory & Henry finished fifth while Mars Hill came in sixth.Â
On the final day, the Bears saw two more trips to the podium as
Ella Penny finished third in the 200 back with an NCAA "B" cut time of 2:02.73. Penny's time also broke the school record.Â
The Bears then finished the championship with a third-place finish in the meets last event the 400 free relay. Penny was joined by
Lisa Boernigen,
Kayana Taylor and
Katherine Hudson to earn the bronze with a time of 3:31.41.Â
Overall the women's team had seven top-three finishes in the four0day event along with numerous team and personal records.Â
