NEWBERRY, S.C.-- The No. 6 Lenoir-Rhyne men's lacrosse team secured its 11th straight SAC win and fourth straight victory over a nationally ranked team in a dominating 18-6 win over No. 17 Newberry. The Bears entered ranked 18th in Division II in scoring at 15.6 goals per game but were held to their lowest output since April 23, 2019 (also against LR) in the SAC Quarterfinal.

STATS OF THE GAME
- The Bears came out scorching and never looked back. After Newberry scored 33 seconds into the game, Will Canata and Riley Seay scored twice in the Bears 7-0 run to close out the first quarter.
- It was more of the same in the second quarter with Newberry scoring first and the Bears answering emphatically. Bryce Reece scored twice in the 5-0 run to close out the first half and give the Bears a 12-2 lead at the break.
- The script was the same in quarter three with the Wolves getting on the board first and LR going on a run. This was another 5-0 spurt and the Bears took a dominant 17-3 lead into the fourth quarter.
- Newberry tried to make it look more respectable with a 3-1 fourth quarter and two goals in the final 53 seconds.
- Reece tied a career-high with four goals and Seay added a season-high four goals as well.
- Canata had a hat trick and added an assist and Toron Eccleston handed out a trio of assists.
- John Paulus won nine of 14 face offs and had three ground balls and six different Bears had a caused turnover.
- James Osorio led Newberry with two goals and three points.
- LR held a massive 49-27 lead in shots and 27-13 edge in shots on goal. The Bears were 15-of-16 in clears and only turned the ball over 12 times.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Lenoir-Rhyne has gone 4-0 in their last four games against nationally ranked opponents and have outscored those teams 94-34.
- This game featured the two best man-up units in the nation. LR went 3-of-6 on the man advantage and Newberry was 1-of-3. The Wolves came in converting at a 73.3 percent clip and the Bears were at 57.6 percent.
- This is the fifth opponent that LR has held to six or less goals on the season.
- With his nine face off wins, Paulus moves into third in program history with 279 career face off wins.
- LR is now 6-0 all-time against Newberry.
- This was the 60th all-time SAC win for the Bears in just their 67th league game.
- LR owns an 8-0 all-time record when they are ranked No. 6 in the nation.
