Bears Win Sixth Straight in Wire-To-Wire Win over LMU

Harrogate, Tenn.-- The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Basketball Team lead wire-to-wire to win their sixth straight game Saturday afternoon at No. 20 Lincoln Memorial. Blaikley Crooks lead the Bears with a game-high 21 points as the Bears had four players in double figures in the 68-59 win. The win keeps the Bears tied with Catawba in the loss column for first place in the SAC.

STATS AND INFO:

  • Bears have won their their eighth straight game against Lincoln Memorial. 
  • It was Lincoln Memorial's first home loss of the season. 
  • Emily Harman scored her 1,300th career point today with her first basket of the game. Harman is the 11th player to reach that mark in program history. 
  • Harman is only one of 50 active players in DII with over 1,300 career points.
  • Bears came into the game 11th in the Nation in FT % at 79.0%.
  • Bears are half game ahead of Catawba in the SAC as the Bears have played one more game then the Indians. 
  • LR and Catawba now have a two game lead over Lincoln Memorial and Wingate, who are tied for third place. 

FIRST HALF:

  • A lay-up to close the first quarter by Crooks gave the Bears a 19-10 lead after ten minutes.
  • Bears extended their lead to 14 points midway through the second period and held a 30-20 lead heading into halftime.
  • The Bears shot only 31% in the second quarter, the only quarter they did not shoot at least 50% from the floor. 

SECOND HALF:

  • Tilda Lindstrom drilled a three pointer with 2:41 left in the third quarter that gave the Bears a 45-36 lead. 
  • Harman then hit a triple of her own with 5:27 left in the game to extend the Bears lead to 59-48. 
  • The Railsplitters then had their best run of the game with a 9-0 run to cut the lead to two with 2:33 left. This was the closest margin since it was 2-0 in open the game. 
  • Crooks then hit back-to-back jumpers to extend the lead back to six points as the Bears hits five of six free throws down the stretch to ice the game and win their sixth straight. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:

  • Harman had 14 points and added four rebounds and four assists. 
  • Lindstrom (13 points) and Alexandra Merceron (10 points) joined Harman and Crooks in double digits. 
  • Six Bears had between four and five rebounds but no one had more then five. 
  • Lindstrom added three blocks on the afternoon, all in the 4th quarter. 

UP NEXT: Bears will head to Anderson, S.C. for a battle with the Trojans on Wednesday night at 5:30 PM.
