HICKORY, N.C.-- The Bears used a goal from
David Grifell in the 85th minute to come back and defeat the Carson-Newman Eagles 2-1 Saturday afternoon.
Guillermo Garcia scored the equalizer for the Bears while
Harri Rowe assisted on both goals. The win gets the Bears back to .500 in SAC at 4-4 with #5 Limestone coming into Hickory next Saturday night.

- Eagles got on the board first in the 29th minute with a goal from Rhydian Williams.
- LR found the equalizer right before half as Guillermo Garcia scored headed in a free kick from Harri Rowe.
- The Bears got the game winner in the 85th minute when Rowe threw the ball in and Grifell made a sliding kick to beat the keeper to right corner.
- After no yellow cards in the first half, the second half saw six yellow cards, including a pair from LR.
- Cathal Carney made one save in goal for the Bears while Federico Simonetti made four saves for the Eagles.
- Despite being out shot 15-11, the Bears held Carson-Newman to just two shots on goal.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- The Bears are 4-0-2 in the last six games against Carson-Newman.
- Carson-Newman has not beaten the Bears in Hickory since 2014.
- The win moves the Bears into a tie for 4th place with 12 points in the SAC. The top four team host a SAC quarterfinal game on November 9th.
- It was Rowe's second game of the season with two assists. Rowe had a pair in the Bears win against Lincoln Memorial on September 18th.
UP NEXT: Bears will have the week off until they welcome #5 Limestone to Hickory next Saturday night for Homecoming. Limestone is 7-0 at the top of the SAC standings and will host Tusculum on Sunday before preparing for the Bears next Saturday. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
