Bears sweep Limestone for 20th win

GAFFNEY, SC - The Bears took care of business on Tuesday night, taking down Limestone in straight sets for the second time this year. With the win Lenoir-Rhyne now has 20 wins in 23 games, making it the fastest time to reach 20 wins in school history. After struggling the previous two games, the Bears notched a .213 hitting % in this one.

STATS OF THE MATCH:
  • Close early on, the Bears used a 7-2 spurt midway through the opening set to go up 16-11. 
  • A late block from Kathy Peter and a kill from Jenna Vogen sealed the opening set victory. 
  • Down 21-20, the Bears scored three straight points to go up 23-21 in set two. 
  • Averie Dale and Kayli Cleaver each had clutch kills to grab the 26-24 set win. 
  • Brooke Aeschliman and Cleaver combined for eight kills in the third and final set. 
  • Kayli Cleaver and Averie Dale each led with 10 kills, followed by Brooke Aeschliman with eight.
  • Aeschliman also led the team with 10 digs. 
  • Sydney Karjala and Rachel Wildermuth combined for 34 assists. 
  • The Bears out hit the Saints .213 to .153. 
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
  • This win breaks a two-game losing streak for the Bears.
  • Lenoir-Rhyne is now 25-6 all-time against Limestone.
  • The last Limestone victory was on September 24, 1993. 
  • The Bears are the first team in the SAC to reach 20 wins.
