HICKORY, N.C.-- The Lenoir-Rhyne men's soccer team closed out their regular season with a 2-2 draw against Catawba on Wednesday. This was LR's first tie of the season. The Bears finished conference play with 16 points, good enough for sixth place in the standings. They will take on the Anderson Trojans on Saturday in the SAC Quarterfinals.

Prior to the match the Bears honored their six seniors, Harri Rowe, Jaheim Smith, Diego Delgado, Braydon Hawkins, Sam Hagemann, and Caleb Wagoner, who will be graduating this year.

STATS OF THE MATCH:

• Harri Rowe connected on an early penalty kick opportunity to put the Bears up 1-0 in the 2nd minute. 
• The Bears stretched the lead to 2-0 in the 32nd minute when Voro Rivera Peris beat the keeper low off an assist from Daniel Martinez. 
• Catawba cut the lead in half thanks to a penalty kick of their own in the 49th minute. 
• The Indians equaled in the 62nd minute off a goal from Salano Birch, his second of the season. 

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:

• This is the first tie between the two teams since the 2014 season. 
• Bears are 10-0-2 in the last twelve games against Catawba. 
• It took to the the last SAC game of the season for a tie in SAC play, The Bears have not had a SAC season without a tie since 2018. 

UP NEXT: The Bears finished as the No. 6 team in the final SAC standings, matching them up with No. 3 Anderson in the SAC Quarterfinals. The Bears took down the Trojans 2-1 earlier this season in Hickory. The game will take place in Anderson, SC, with the kickoff time being determined at a later date.
