HICKORY, N.C. -- The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Lacrosse Team suffered its first loss of the campaign as they dropped a 16-8 decision to Florida Tech on Saturday afternoon.
Ellie Campbell was incredible for the Bears in a losing effort, scoring five goals on seven shots and having a team-high nine draw controls and added three caused turnovers.

STATS OF THE GAME
- Chloe Christensen started the scoring off today with an unassisted goal just 63 seconds into the game. However, the Panthers answered with three straight scores.
- Trailing 4-2, LR rallied to tie the game with back-to-back goals from Campbell and Kaitlyn Cavanaugh to even the game at 4.
- However, FTU scored twice in the last 30 seconds of the first quarter to take a lead they would never give back.
- The lead extended in the second quarter as the visitors scored five of the six goals in the frame to go into the break up 11-5.
- The lead extended to 10 with 1:20 left in the third but the Bears refused to quit. Campbell scored three straight goals to cut the deficit to 15-8 but LR couldn't get any closer.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- This is game two of the three game home stand to open the 2024 season for LR.
- This is the first meeting between programs since the 2019 season.
- Florida Tech is 3-0 against the Bears all-time.
