Hickory, N.C.-- The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Lacrosse Team battled despite being shorthanded but came up short in a Wednesday afternoon SAC matchup with UVA Wise. Playing without Katelyn Cavanaugh and
Ellie Campbell, the Bears were a few goals short of topping the Cavaliers.
Rylie McGhan had a tremendous game with five goals to power LR.

STATS OF THE GAME
- The first half saw the Bears score the first two goals by McGhan then UVA Wise scored three straight goals before Olson and McGhan scored to close the first half as LR took a 4-3 lead into halftime.
- Both teams combined for 23 turnovers in the first half as Grace Golatt had four caused turnover for UVA Wise in the first thirty minutes.
- The Cavs jumped out early in the second half with three goals in 56 seconds to take a 4-3 deficit and turn it to a 6-4 lead. Mallory Trimble scored twice in the stretch.
- McGhan would go back-to-back with goals 1:33 apart to make it 6-6.
- UVA Wise and LR traded goals before Trimble put the visitors up 8-7 with 2:53 left in the third.
- The Cavs would make it 9-7 before Jolan Morey scored with 7:12 left to play. However, that would be the Bears final goal of the contest. UVA Wise added a third man-up goal of the game to make it 10-8 and neither side scored the final four minutes.
- 13 cards were handed out today.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Trimble and Abby Stoffelen combined for seven goals for the Cavaliers.
- McGhan's five goals are a career high for the sophomore. She had four in the season opener against Southern Wesleyan.
- Tess Grimley led LR with three caused turnovers and Anneleise Meyer had four ground balls and two caused turnovers to go with two assists.
- UVA Wise has won the last three in the series history. This was the first time UVA Wise won in Moretz Stadium.
