Wingate, N.C.-- In a battle of top 25 teams, The No. 18 Lenoir-Rhyne Bears dropped both games to No. 12 Wingate on Wednesday afternoon. Bears got solo homeruns from Lauren Rakes, Cassidy Wall and Madison Primm in the opener but Wingate scored 12 runs to defeated the Bears 12-3. In the night cap, Sydney Kale held the Bears to four hits to move to 7-0 as Wingate defeated the Bears 5-1. Shena Hollar remains two wins shy of 1,000 and will look to reach the milestone on Saturday against Mars Hill.

- Hollar's remains two wins shy of 1,000 as Hollar will look to cross the 1,000 win mark at home on Saturday against Mars Hill.
- Today's match up was a rematch of last year's regional final.
- Wingate has knocked the Bears out of the regional two years in a row.
- Both teams came into the game with 27 wins, which is good for third most in all of Division II.
- Rakes becomes just the 4th pitcher in program history with 700 K's in game one today.
GAME ONE INFO:
- Bears highlight of the first game and the day was three solo homeruns as Rakes, Wall and Primm all hit solo homeruns in the opner
- Outside of these three hits, the Bears only had one other hit a double by Lani Warren. Bears did not have a single at all in the contest.
- Wingate only scored in three of the six innings but scored twice in the 1st inning, six times in the 4th and then put a four spot in the 6th to end the game via the mercy rule.
- Rakes took the lost in the circle to move her record to 9-4 on the year as the senior allowed eight runs in 3 2/3 innings while striking out six.
GAME TWO INFO:
- Bears were held to four hits again as the Bears lone run came in the 2nd inning and it was unearned.
- Wingate broke through with four runs off Madison Wilson in the 4th inning and added an insurance run in the 5th.
- Wilson pitched four innings allowing 4 earned runs while striking out three while Faith Carrigan came into relief for the second time today to finish the last two innings. Carrigan stuck out three and did not allow a run.
- Kale allowed four hits in the shutout to move to 7-0 for Wingate in the circle this season.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- No LR player at multi-hits in either game as only five players had hits on the day.
- Six of the eight hits were extra bases for the Bears today.
- Warren, Rackes and Primm had six of the Bears's eight hits.
- Carrigan threw 3 2/3 innings in relief today allowing just two runs.
- LR had a season high three errors in the opener.
