Wingate, N.C.- For the third time in program history and the first time since 2011, the Lenoir-Rhyne Softball team is heading to the Super Regional as the Bears walked off Wingate after a Madison Wilson single scoring Lauren Rakes in the bottom of the 8th inning. Rakes pitched the complete game in the circle allowing just two runs to help send the Bears to North Georgia for next week's Southeast Super Regional.

- The Bears have not been to the super regional since the 2011 season.
- Both the 2010 and 2011 super regional were in Daholonega, Georgia.
- This was the 6th and 7th game of the season between these programs and all seven at Wingate.
- Bears won four games while Wingate won three this season.
- LR played five extra innings games this post season including three against Wingate.
GAME ONE INFO:
- SAC Player of the Year Savannah Brooks got the Bulldogs on the board with a solo homerun in the top of the 4th.
- Warren had a two-out two-double to give the Bears the 2-1 lead in the bottom of the 5th.
- Wingate's Heaven Maness then tied the game up with a leadoff homerun in the top of the 7th.
- For the fourth time this postseason, the Bears went into extra innings and first time they fall as Hannah Stevens had a two-out RBI double in the 9th inning.
- Madison Wilson started and went the first two innings and then came back in the 9th inning and gave up the Stevens droubles
- Faith Carrigan came in relief for the second straight game and pitched 6 2/3 innings and allowed four runs (just two earned runs).
- Cassidy Wall had three hits for the Bears as LR had ten hits in the contest.
GAME TWO INFO:
- Primm got the Bears going with a solo homerun in the 2nd inning.
- After Wingate tied it in the 3rd inning, Primm forced a bases loaded walk for her second RBI of the game.
- Bulldogs were down to their final out and had no one base but a walk, wild pitch and a pitch-hit RBI single by Raleigh Dudley tied it at two.
- After Brooks tripled with one out in the top of the 8th, Rakes got a pop-out and ground out to end the threat.
- Lora Beth Wood opened the 8th with a single after Rakes reached on a field choice, Kaylan Brown and Katelyn Rackard each singled which set the stage for Wilson, who hit a ball down the left field line for the game-winning RBI single.
- Rakes picked up the win in the circle going the complete game allowing just two runs in eight innings.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Rakes picked up her 64th career win today.
- Rackard had four hits in the night cap as Rackard hit .778 in the four games this weekend.
- LR hit .331 as a team while holding Lander/Wingate to .188 batting average.
- Wood and Rackard had six of the Bears 13 hits in game two.
UP NEXT: Bears will head to North Georgia for the super regional next week starting on Tuesday. The series will be a best of three with the winner heading to the NCAA World Series.
