Bears shoot season low in lost to Limestone

Hickory, N.C.-- The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Basketball team shot a season low 28% from the floor in a 65-56 loss to Limestone on Wednesday night. Leading by five points at halftime, the Bears shot just 14% in the third period as the Saints took the lead at the buzzer. Limestone then went on a 14-0 run early in the 4th quarter to put the game away. 

Blaikley Crooks lead the Bears with 14 points while Emily Harman had 12 points. Tilda Lindstroem finished with a double-double consisting of 10 points and 11 rebounds.

STORY OF THE GAME:
  •  It was a low scoring first half as the first basket was not scored until 7:27 left in the opening quarter when Emily Harman hit a mid-range jump shot.
  • LR won the first quarter as the Bears held the Saints to just nine points in the first frame.
  • Limestone won the second quarter 14-12 and cut the Bears lead to 28-23 at the half.
  • Crooks and Harman each had eight points at the break for LR. 
  • Both teams had 20 rebounds at the half with six offensive boards on each side.
  • Lenoir-Rhyne was held to just nine points in the third quarter as Limestone took a 39-37 lead at the buzzer. 
  • With the game tied at 41, the Saints went on 14-0 lead to storm ahead in the fourth.
  • LR cut the lead to five points with :44 seconds left, however that was as close as the Bears would get as Saints held on for the victory. 
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
  • The Saints snapped a two game losing streak to the Bears with today's win. 
  • Blaikley Crooks is now the 8th player in program history to score 1500 points. 
  • Harman is three points away from being 3rd player to score 1700 points.  
  • Today was Crooks's 99th career start for the Bears.
  • Limestone jumps the Bears for 8th place in the SAC. 
UP NEXT: LR will head to Tusculum on Saturday to face the Pioneers in Greeneville, Tennessee. Tusculum is 5-9 in the SAC as the Pioneers helped the Bears with a 85-83 win at UVA-Wise tonight. All three teams are now all tied for 9th in the SAC standings.
