Nield shines as women's golf takes eighth at St. Simons Intercollegiate

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, GA - Junior Eve Neild has been red hot as of late, as she picked up her second consecutive top-ten finish at the St. Simons Island Intercollegiate this weekend.

Neild finished second in the field of 100 with a three round total of 214 (-2). This marks a new personal best three-round score for Neild, who was second only to Wingate's Amely Bochaton, last year's WGCA National Player and Freshman of the Year. Neild's total was the best for a Bear since Megan Robb also shot a 214 at the Low Tide Intercollegiate in 2022.

As a team the Bears finished eighth out of 18, shooting rounds of 321, 291, and 297 to close with a 909 (+45). Their final two round score of 588 was tied for second best in the field.

Tying for 28th and coming in second on the team was Danielle Bekker, who finished with a three-round total of 228 (+12). Emily Gilmour's 232 (+16) was third on the team, tying for 45th. Jaya Wilkinson improved each round, closing with a final round 75 to tie for 56th with a 235 (+19). Charlotte Colley bounced back after an opening round 88, finishing with a 76 and 78 to tie for 71st with a 242 (+26).

Individually, Eve Neild was tied for first in the field with an average of 4.67 (-4) on Par 5s. She also hit the second most birdies in the field (12) and was one of three players to record an eagle. Danielle Bekker was tops with 40 pars on the weekend. As a team, Lenoir-Rhyne was tied for first with a 3.03 (+2) average on Par 3s, and sixth with a 5.22 (+13) average on Par 5s.

INDIVIDUAL SCORES The Bears will have one more competition this Fall before Winter break, taking part in the D2 Elite Invitational at the Curahee Club in Toccoa, Georgia, on Monday-Tuesday, October 27-28.
