GREENWOOD, S.C. - For the third time since 2021, the Lenoir-Rhyne women's soccer team will be playing in the Southeast Regional Championship. This year's opponent will be the No. 5 seeded Lander Bearcats, who upset No. 1 seed Catawba in the regional semi-finals last Sunday. 

The No. 6 seed Bears earned a spot in this game thanks to two 1-0 victories over No. 3 seed Columbus State and No. 2 seed North Georgia. Goalkeeper Riley Miller was fantastic in the two wins, saving all 11 shots on goal. The Bears now have 10 shutout victories on the season, tied for their fifth most in program history. 

Lander currently sports a 14-3-2 record and is appearing in a regional championship for the first time in program history. They fell to Columbus State in the Peach Belt Conference semi-finals before upsetting Francis Marion and Catawba in the NCAA Tournament. These teams have a recent history as the Bearcats came into Hickory last season and upset the Bears 3-2 in double overtime in the NCAA Tournament opening round. Lenoir-Rhye and Lander met once before last season's contest, a 3-1 Bear victory during the 2012 season.

The winner of tomorrow's contest will advance to the national quarterfinals to take on the winner of Florida Tech and Nova Southeastern on Saturday, December 6th. The national semi-finals and championship games are set to take place on December 11-13 at Switchbacks FC Stadium in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
