Women's Triathlon looks for third title in four years

TEMPE, AZ - Head coach Harley Mason and the Lenoir-Rhyne women's triathlon team are set to take part in their final race of the season tomorrow, the national championships in Tempe, Arizona.

The Bears are a dominant power in Division II triathlon, winning the 2022 and 2023 national championships and finishing second last year. Head coach Harley Mason has taken home two NCAA DII Coach of the Year awards while senior Sabrina Fleig won the 2023 individual national title.

This year's championships are back in Tempe after a year hiatus where they took place in Clermont, Florida. In the East Regionals two weeks ago the Bears finished second amongst DII schools, just behind rival Wingate. Zoila Sicilia won the individual title by over a minute, while Fleig joined her in the top-five with a fourth place finish. Isis Gaskin (7th) and Claudia Teran-Romagosa (10th) rounded out Lenoir-Rhyne's top-ten finishers.

Tomorrow's race is a battle between Division I, II, and III. There will be three waves of athletes going out, with the A wave being the top 75 fastest competitors out of the West and East regionals. Agathe Claude will be Lenoir-Rhyne's lone representative in the B wave, which is scheduled to start at 12:45 MST/2:45 ET. The A wave, which will feature Sabrina Fleig, Zoila Sicilia, Claudia Teran-Romagosa, Ana Brown, Isis Gaskin, and Alex Linden, will start at 3:00 MST/5:00 ET. Awards will take place following all three waves at 5:00 MST/7:00 ET.
