Wise, Va.--  For the third time this season, the Lenoir-Rhyne women's basketball team found themselves in overtime. This time the Bears fell short as the UVA-Wise defeated Lenoir-Rhyne 95-90 on Saturday afternoon. 

Madilyn Winterton had her first career double-double as she finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds. In all, five Bears scored in double figures with Abigail Brown's 19 points leading the way.

STORY OF THE GAME:

• The Bears jumped out to an 8-2 lead but a three pointer by the Cavs's Izzy Proffitt right before the first quarter buzzer tied the game at 22 after one. 
• The entire second quarter was played within one possession as the Bears held a slight 40-39 lead into the break. 
• Lenoir-Rhyne maintained the one point lead into the four quarter thanks to a jumper by Madilyn Winterton to end the third.
• After the Cavs opened a seven point lead early in the fourth quarter, the Bears responded with a 7-0 run to tie the game at 75-75 with 4:12 left. 
• With the score locked at 80-80 with :12 seconds left, the Cavs had a chance to win it in regulation but their final short came up short.
• Winterton hit another jump shot to cut the Cavs lead to 91-88 with :59 left in overtime, however UVA Wise hit five of six free throws in the final minute  to take the 95-90 win. 

STATS OF THE GAME:

• Amiya Porter played a career high 41 minutes and finished with a career high 15 points. 
• Abigail Brown led the Bears with 19 points and added six blocks. 
• Winterton had her first ever double-double as the freshman finished with 13 points and ten rebounds. 
• LR went 23-26 from the free throw line for a season high percentage of 88%.
• Bears did hold the Cavs to 37% shooting from the floor.
• The game had 19 different lead changes and was tied 16 different times. 

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:

• The Cavs have had Lenoir-Rhyne's number at home as this is their fifth straight home win against the Bears.
• Two of the five games have gone into overtime. 
• This was Lenoir-Rhyne's third overtime game of the season.
• Bears are 1-2 in them overtime games as the home time has won all three games. 
• Abigail Brown has had at least two blocks in eight of her nine career games.
• This game had 185 total points, the most total points in a game since November 25, 2017, when the Bears defeated Lees-McRae 98-80 (178 total points). 

UP NEXT: Bears will travel to Wingate on Wednesday. The Bulldogs are 5-2 on the season and 1-1 in the SAC. Wingate will travel to Lincoln Memorial on Sunday afternoon before hosting the Bears for a 5:30 tip-off on Wednesday.
