HICKORY, NC - In a match that will most likely have big regional implications down the road, the Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Tennis team came through with a hard-fought 5-2 win over a quality Barton squad on Friday.
The Bears grabbed the doubles point thanks to three wins.
Nevio Dux and
Rufus Plane won 6-3 at No. 1 doubles,
Vadym Rogynskyi and
Burke Rosenbaum 7-6 (7-2) at No. 2 doubles, and
Zachary Cox and
Lucas Galy 6-2 at #3 doubles.
LR won four of a possible six singles points.
Nevio Dux dominated the No. 1 singles match, winning 6-3, 6-1 over Barton's Felipe Mioch.
Rufus Plane won No. 2 singles 6-4, 6-4, and
Vadym Rogynskyi went three sets against his competitor in No. 4 singles, winning 6-3, 3-6, 6-0.
Lucas Galy won a battle in No. 6 singles, taking down Sebastian Sevilla 2-6, 6-0, 10-4.
Lenoir-Rhyne will be back at it next Friday when they host Mount Olive at the YMCA Tennis Courts. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m.
