Kirra Olson nets hat trick against nationally ranked Embry-Riddle

Hickory, N.C.-- A high-scoring affair didn't go the Bears way on Saturday, as they fell 23-11 to No. 15 Embry-Riddle. The high-scoring affair saw a combined 23 goals in the first half alone.

The Bears were led by three goals from Kirra Olson, who now has four consecutive hat tricks dating back to last season.

STATS OF THE GAME
  • The Bears jumped out to an early 3-1 lead thanks to goals from Alexa Burghardt, Chloe Christensen, and Kirra Olson. 
  • Embry Riddle scored four consecutive goals to take back the lead before Olson stopped the bleeding with her second goal of the game.
  • Christensen scored at the buzzer to make it 6-5 Eagles after one.
  • Ellie Campbell kept things close for the Bears early, and Burghardt and Christensen kept the pressure on with two more goals late to make it 10-8 Embry-Riddle with 4:01 left in the half.
  • The Eagles notched two more goals before Campbell scored her second of the frame near the end of the half to make it 12-9 at the break.
  • Embry Riddle turned it on in the second half, outscoring the Bears 11-2 over the final 30 minutes of play to secure the win.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
  • LR won the only other meeting between these programs in 2019. 
  • Chloe Christensen now has 77 career goals.
  • Kirra Olson reached the half-century goal mark with her first score today.
  • Marissa Evans led the team with three draw controls.
NEXT UP: LR will have eleven days off before welcoming Barton to Hickory for a 4:00 PM contest on Wednesday, February 26th. The Bulldogs fell 14-6 to undefeated Newberry earlier today.
