LYNCHBURG, VA - The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's and Women's Track & Field Teams competed at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational this past weekend, their final tune-up before the SAC Indoor Championships in two weeks.
The women were highlighted by
Kimberley Owens, who not only hit the NCAA DII provo standard in the long jump, but she set a new school record in the process. Her leap of 5.78m (18-11.75) placed her seventh out of 57 competitors. Also finishing in the top-10 was the 4x400m squad, who's time of 3:52.97 was good enough for eighth out of 32 teams.
Holly Kone took 11th in the triple jump with a mark of 11.67m (38-3.50).Â
On the men's side,
Mike Karicher had the highest finish for the Bears, tying for sixth in the pole vault with a mark of 4.50m (14-9.00).
Nick Henriques also notched a top-10 finish, taking seventh in the triple jump with a leap of 14.22m (46-8.00). The men's distane medley relay team, competing for the first time this year, finished in seventh with a time of 11:00.80. Qualifying for the semi-finals and nearly setting a PR in the 60m hurdles was
Liam Sutton, who came through in 8.22 seconds, just .01 off his personal best.
