Baseball wins high scoring affair to take series with Emory & Henry

Emory, VA. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Baseball team won a wild high-scoring affair to take their fourth straight SAC series. After the Bears and Emory & Henry split Friday's doubleheader the Bears won the series finale with a 26-16 win to take the series.  Mackenzie Wainwright, Cole Stanford, and Tyler Bradley each hit a pair of home runs in the contest. Bradley finished with a season high six RBI's. 

The Bears pounded out a season high 24 hits, led by four from Owen Blackledge and Stanford. Stanford, Sal Carricato and Michael Logan each had four RBI's as well. 
 

INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

GAME INFO:
  • LR scored in every inning but the second, including five innings with at least three runs. 
  • Both teams had an inning with seven runs as the Wasps scored seven times in the third to take a 13-9 lead while the Bears had their seven spot in the 7th to open a 21-16 lead. 
  • Stanford hit his third home run of the weekend in the 1st inning then his fourth in the 5th inning. He finished the series 8-for-12 with four home runs and eight RBI's. 
  • Both Bradley and Wainwright hit their home runs in the 5th and 7th innings. 
  • All nine Bears had a RBI in this game as Bradley led the Bears with six, while a trio of Stanford, Carricato, and Logan had four each. 
  • All nine Bears also had a hit in this one and six of the nine had at least three hits. Bears are now hitting .367 as a team this season. 
  • On a day that was tough to get outs Gavin Marley throw two scoreless innings out the pen, while Nathan Morris added a zero in the 9th.  Preston Drebes got the win, throwing an inning and allowing one earned run. 
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
  • The Bears lead the nation in home runs as LR hit 11 more this weekend and are now up to 55 on the year.
  • 55 home runs is already seventh most in a single season for LR. 
  • Stanford has at least two hits in five straight games. 
  • Carricato went 3-for-4 and extended his hitting streak to 11 games. 
  • Wainwright's hitting streak is now at 15 games. 
  • Wainwright has at least two hits in 20 of the teams 25 games this season. 
  • Laskowski moved into second all-time in runs scored with his 180th and 181th run scored in his career. 
  • Laskowski also moved into 10th all-time in hits with three more today. 
UP NEXT: There will be no mid-week game for the Bears this week as they return to Durham Field on Friday to start an huge SAC series with (RV) UVA-Wise. The Cavaliers are 19-9 on the year and 9-6 in the SAC after dropping two of three to #19 Catawba this weekend.
